ABOUT SPIRIT GIFTS
A Spirit Gift is filled with purpose and built by community. A mindful gift that will grow with your child over the years. We live in an age where we have too much stuff. Closets full of toys and drawers full of clothes with price tags still attached. Overconsumption or consumerism is pushed to us and our children through various media outlets. It’s never enough, causing unnecessary psychological burdens. Together, let’s make a brave change in the way our children receive and expect gifts
Spirit Gifts are monetary gifts, given to your child for the purpose of creating change in the world. Instead of asking our children, what do you want to do when you grow up, we should be asking, how do you plan on contributing to the human race or how are you going to uplift humanity? As your child grows, their spirit account grows with them through the generous contributions of family and friends. When they are ready to create change in the world, they will have the start-up capital to create a social enterprise, go to college or donate to a worthy cause.
The foundation of Spirit Gifts is based on Aparigraha. It is the last of the five Yamas of Patanjali’s 8 limbs of Yoga and can be described as the Yama of non-attachment or non-possessiveness, the art of what is needed, rather than what is desired in that moment.
